Men Someday

I had a realization the other day as I was holding a jammied Marshal.  Right now he is so cuddly.  And he adores his Mama.  We could snuggle all day.  He was up on my lap with his legs to his chest and playing with my hair.  Suddenly I started thinking about how big he's getting, how he hardly fits.  And I asked him, "Marshal, will you still let me hold you when you're six feet tall?"  To which he answered, "Yes Mama, I PROMISE."  As if that wasn't enough to make this already hormonal Mama cry, I then realized that this little boy I was holding will someday be... a man.   Uh - I will someday be the Mama of three... men.  This startled me quite a bit.  I love being a boy mom, will I love being a man mom?  I sure hope so.

Two-Tits

These are my two little Abercrombie models???
Look at their cute little bodies!
They got play tattoos in their stockings.
Mason calls them two-tits.
"Wanna see my two-tits?"
"Where's my two-tits?"
"Look at her two-tits!"
"Can I see your two-tits?"
You can see how this causes sideways glances.

You okay Mama?

Isn't this the cutest picture EVER?
Taken by Grammy K at his 2nd birthday party.

Mason has a cute habit.
At night when I make any kind of cough or sneeze,
he calls out from his bed, "You okay Mama???"
I of course answer, "Yes Mason."
And he returns with, "Okay!"

My caring, concerned boy.  Sweet stuff.

Dear Mac - Our First of Many Love Letters

Dear Mac -
You have captured my heart.  I mean it, you are sweet.  You have this BIG grin and belly laugh.  You have finally become a good sleeper now that your allergies or cold are getting better, unfortunately you've been congested much of your little life.  You'd never know it with how good-natured you are are.  You are REALLY cute.  As you've hit your two month mark you're developing quite a fun personality. You coo and giggle, and can track us with your gaze.  Very smart if you ask me.

You are a great nurser, which of course I love.  At your last appointment you weighed 13 lbs! Your belly shows it!  I'm so thankful you are part of our family.  I want you to know I love you deeply.  I've loved you from the moment I knew you were growing in my tummy.  You are special, I can tell already.  I believe in you.  Please know that no matter WHAT happens in life I will always love you, and you have a very special place in our home and in my heart.

I love you my Macaroon,
Mama

Brackenberry's House of Ragamuffins

Marshal participated in his first Christmas production this year, entitled Brackenberry's House of Ragamuffins.  It was most definitely an adventure.  Marshal was part of the orphan choir, and did such a great job memorizing his songs.

"Go children of the mountain
that Jesus Christ is FOUR!!!"

Somewhere along the line someone told him not to move from his name label on the stage.  He took this quite literally, and would only move as far as he could with one foot still planted.  This caused orphan dominoes.

Note to self, suspenders can also double as ear decorations.

When a little orphan friend started getting too bossy Marshal had NO problem defending himself.  He also was a big ham and decided to clean the front of the platform stairs, all the while looking at me in the audience for approval.

Lots of fun memories.  First play of many, I'm sure!

Hokie-Dokie

Marshal loves the bad guys in movies.
Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
Shere Khan from The Jungle Book.
The man in the chicken suit who steals Woody.
And this little, silly, Humpty-Dumpty.
Whose name he can never remember.
Who he's affectionately renamed Hokie-Dokie.

It's Cousin Time!

Jalon's brother Josh, and his family (SIL Amy and my two beautiful nieces Isabel and Daphne) came for a visit.  We had a PRICELESS time... and I wish it never had to end.  Here are some highlights of our time together:

Park playing.

Ice cream eating.

Couch sitting.

Nana loving.

Bible reading.

Family bonding.

Sister shopping.

Snow playing.

Rook winning.

All in all, an AMAZING time.  Love you family.

Where's your tooth???

A couple of things noted from this picture...

First of all, Maso is indeed missing a tooth.  His pediatrician says he'd have it by now, and luckily it won't have any impact on his permanent teeth.  It's super cute, and we play a game asking him where his tooth went - his belly? Armpit? Ear?

Secondly, can you guess what's in his mouth?  That would be asparagus.  Two hours after we ate dinner.  Why? Because my dear Middleist doesn't like to swallow his food.  In fact he will stuff his cheeks to beyond capacity, to the point where he is physically unable to swallow.  He frequently has to spit out his food because there is so much in there.  This is quite startling, yes.

Ready or not, here I come!

Mason is learning to count,
and so far he gets to three unassisted...
this makes for a VERY quick game of hide and seek.

First Day of Preschool

Oh Marshy Jay.  You steal my heart in so many ways.

You started preschool this week.  And you LOVE it.  My emotions are split in half.  I'm proud of you, you're so grown up - and SWEET.  But at the same time I'm realizing we are entering a season of school-age.  No longer are you my baby, or even my toddler.  I'm determined not to mourn the change, because after all, you are destined to grow and thrive... that's the way it works.  But, for a few small moments - laying in my bed the night before your first day; my quick walk to the car after leaving you in your classroom; and this blog post - I'll relish a bit of a broken heart with misty eyes.

You are tender-hearted, fun, and full of love.  You are smart, and I can't wait to see you learn and grow.

I love you.  Muchly.

(Miss Gresham is your teacher - and you the only boy in a class of all girls... you are in HEAVEN!)
